Eligibility and Procedure

All quartet members must currently be enrolled in a Southern California High School.

Quartet members cannot change after application submission, but they are welcome to change instruments within the quartet

Participating students can only compete in one quartet.

SATB quartet is suggested, but other saxophone quartet configurations are acceptable.

Quartets must participate in both the pre-screening and live round to be eligible for prizes.

If a group must drop out of the competition for any reason, please email Dr. Harrison as soon as possible so another group can take your place
Pre-Screening Round Rules

HD Video Submission with completed application

10 minutes of music (quartet may choose any repertoire)

High Quality sound is highly encouraged
-
Memorization is not required

Video must be unedited
-
Individual movements may be recorded separately

Entire group must be visible in video at all times

Live Round Rules

The Live Round will take place during the Uproar Festival and Competition on April 11, 2020 at Mt. San Antonio College

Quartets will prepare 10 minutes of music

The music may be different than the pre-screening round

Each group will perform as part of a recital for a live audience, with three judges critiquing the groups

Memorization is not required

1st Place - $400
2nd Place - $300
3rd Place - $200
Audience Award (decibel meter)** - $100
*All decisions by the judges are final and will not be reversed.
**Quartets are encouraged to invite friends and family to cheer them on to win the Audience Award.
